Overview

Applied Home Health Network is urgently seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join our growing team. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional care to children in a supportive home environment, we want to hear from you today! In this role, you will provide high-quality care to pediatric patients in a home health setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, including proficiency in airway management, infant care, and pain management. Key Responsibilities – Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN):

As a valued member of the Applied Home Health Network team, you will play a vital role in delivering specialized, compassionate care to pediatric patients in their home environment.

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and monitor pediatric patients’ physical and emotional well-being, documenting changes in condition promptly.
  • Administer medications accurately, using pediatric-specific dosage calculations based on weight, body surface area, and age, in compliance with physician orders.
  • Deliver specialized nursing care for children requiring ostomy support, long-term care, and assistance with daily medical needs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams—including physicians, therapists, case managers, and family members—to develop and execute individualized pediatric care plans.
  • Educate and empower families and caregivers on pediatric health conditions, medication management, nutritional needs, and preventative care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities using electronic health record (EHR) systems, including Axxess.
  • Perform pediatric-appropriate medical-surgical procedures, maintaining a child-friendly and trauma-informed approach while strictly adhering to clinical safety standards.
  • Manage pediatric pain and discomfort using age-appropriate interventions, medication, and comfort techniques.
  • Provide skilled support for pediatric patients on dialysis, including monitoring vital signs, managing access sites, and ensuring proper fluid balance.

Requirements:

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the state of Illinois.
  • CPR Certification (PALS certification is a plus).
  • Minimum 3 years of direct hands-on pediatric medical-surgical nursing experience, or acute care setting.
  • Proven expertise in pediatric airway management and infant care, including tracheostomy and ventilator support.
  • Familiarity with pediatric ostomy care is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with medically fragile children, including those with chronic conditions, disabilities, or complex needs.
  • Background in long-term care or experience supporting pediatric patients with neurological or developmental disorders is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, while maintaining clear communication with patients and families.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Demonstrated compassionate, patient-centered approach to pediatric nursing, with a strong focus on safety, comfort, and emotional support.
